TREATMENT OPTIONS WITH PROLOGUE
At Prologue we are proud to be able to offer the full range of fertility treatments options. This means we can work with you in an unrestricted way to formulate a plan that suits your situation, that you understand and has the highest chance of success.
Ovulation tracking is a free, nurse lead service offered by Prologue that also utilises the resources of Monash IVF. In an ovulation tracking cycle, we can monitor your naturally produced fertility hormones throughout one menstrual cycle. In some cases, an ultrasound may also be performed. Monitoring a cycle in this way will allow you and your Prologue fertility team to better understand your natural menstrual cycle. We also hope that it will identify or confirm the time in your cycle that you are most likely to conceive. For those that are ready to try to naturally conceive, this will also allow you to time sex more accurately. Ovulation tracking is often a great adjunct to the thorough and methodical approach we take at Prologue to assess your baseline fertility. With the results of your tests and a clear understanding of your natural ovulation cycle, we will be perfectly positioned to assess any options you may have to increase the chances of conceiving.
Ovulation Tracking
Prologue is proud to be able to offer a range of fertility treatments and ovulation induction is an important and popular option available for consideration by our patients. For those engaging ovulation induction, we are aiming to stimulate the ovaries to release a small number of eggs. These eggs will not be collected but rather we will aim to expose them to sperm in the uterus at the correct time, with the hope of achieving fertilisation and an ongoing pregnancy. Oral medications such as Clomid or Letrazole are often used in ovulation induction as can a low dose of an injectable medication.
Ovulation induction is a more “natural” and “less invasive” form of fertility treatment when compared to some other options, such as IVF. Whilst that can potentially make it more appealing, ovulation induction is only suitable in certain clinical situations where the patient and their Prologue fertility specialist have made a joint decision that it is a good option for them to try.
Ovulation Induction
IUI stands for Intrauterine Insemination. IUI is a fertility treatment usually used for cases where good quality donor sperm is being used as it avoids the need for intercourse. IUI is also used in the treatment of some forms of infertility such as in combination with ovulation induction. It is less invasive and more “natural” than IVF as the sperm and egg are meeting, and fertilisation occurs, inside the body. However, for many types of infertility its success rate is less than IVF and relies on a good supply of premium quality sperm. The cost of IUI and how it compares to that of IVF is listed here.
Prologue has an affiliation with many donor sperm banks and the majority of sperm sourced from these is of a quality that is suitable for IUI. This means, those patients of Prologue who are wanting to use donor sperm to conceive, will have IUI as an option.
As always, your fertility treatment is something that you should understand and should be directly configured to match not only your clinical case, but also your values and priorities.
If you would like to know more about IUI and whether it may be a form of treatment that could benefit you, please get in touch with us and we can explore this together.
Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
IVF is the most well-known fertility treatment. At Prologue we believe that IVF should only be used where other less invasive and less expensive methods have either not been successful or are not indicated.
IVF stands for InVitro Fertilisation. With IVF, fertilisation comes from an egg and sperm being placed together in the lab.
Whilst maintaining a positive attitude and outlook is important, at Prologue we feel that it is equally important to acknowledge that undergoing the process of IVF can be stressful. When you engaging our team, dedicate ourselves and all the resources we have, to care for you. This not only means working with you to formulate a treatment plan that maximises our chances of success but looking after you in a holistic fashion. We are supporters of integrative care if that aligns with your values. Also, all of our patients who undergo an IVF cycle are offered a complimentary, individual counseling session with a counselor or psychologist experienced in caring for patients who are undergoing fertility treatment. We pride ourselves and are well known for being directly contactable by you and encourage communication between us during your cycle.
IVF
Whilst many patients overestimate the cost of IVF, it is extremely important to us that you understand all costings related to any treatment plan that we formulate. As a general guide, IVF cost can be found here however prior to any treatment starting, we will make sure you receive a complete quote so you are totally informed.
Our team of specialist nurses at Prologue will constantly keep you updated with your progress during an IVF cycle and make a special effort for your treatment to be as minimally disruptive to your normal routine as possible. Every one of your results will be discussed and every decision in relation to your cycle will be made by your Prologue team in consultation with you. Monash IVF has some of the best IVF success rates in the country which directly relates to their ability to attract the best trained and most talented scientists.
